Mixpanel Pricing: Free to 1M, Then About $0.00028

Sep 8, 2026•Updated Sep 30, 2026•Wlad

If you typed mixpanel pricing or mixpanel cost, you are probably a two-person SaaS trying to guess the invoice before you instrument anything. Mixpanel is a real product-analytics suite. This page is a Mixpanel pricing calculator against our published ceilings. It is not Mixpanel’s billing page, and it is not a claim that we are cheaper at 250k events. The invoice is not the product. We are the alternative when the job is drop-off without a tracking-plan project.

The Growth rate I keep using is about $0.00028 per event after 1 million. That is $0.28 per 1,000 events. EventDash is $19, then $99.

I am Wlad. I built EventDash. The Mixpanel numbers below are from Mixpanel’s pricing docs as of 8 September 2026. If Mixpanel changes a rate, believe Mixpanel.

Slide events per month. Mixpanel Free is 1 million events, then reports lock. Growth bills ~$0.00028 per extra event after 1M. EventDash is a $19 / $99 ceiling.

Mixpanel Free is still $0 under 1 million events. EventDash Standard is $19 for 1M. Pay EventDash for cookieless HTML goals and a published ceiling, not because it undercuts Mixpanel’s free million.

EventDash pricing

Mixpanel figures from Mixpanel pricing docs as of Sep 8, 2026. The $0.00028 rate is the additional-data price on the 1M monthly Growth plan; committed volume discounts it. EventDash numbers match /pricing. This is not Mixpanel’s billing page.

Mixpanel pricing in one paragraph

Mixpanel charges on events ingested across every project in the org. Identify, alias, merge, and a few other API calls do not count. Mixpanel Free includes 1 million events per month. If you exceed that, Mixpanel keeps collecting but locks reports until you upgrade or the month resets. There is no Mixpanel overage bill on Free.

Mixpanel Growth (the small-team plan) includes the first 1 million events free on plans purchased after February 2025. Extra events on the 1M monthly plan bill at $0.00028 per event ($0.28 per 1,000 events). Buy more volume up front and that Mixpanel cost per event drops. Group Analytics adds 40% of that overage. Data Pipelines adds 20%. Enterprise and MTU contracts are sales-led (MTU starts at $20,000/year on Mixpanel’s docs) and are out of scope here.

Mixpanel’s own example is 1.1 million events on the 1M Growth plan with Group Analytics. You pay the 100,000 extra events, then 40% of that overage again. I leave those add-ons out of the table. A two-person team that never opens group analysis should not pay them.

That is Mixpanel pricing. EventDash is a different product: cookieless HTML goals, one funnel view, and a $19 / 1M or $99 / 2M ceiling. Our numbers live on /pricing. This article does not replace that page.

If you do not have a chart yet, do not invent a tracking plan to price one. Take the people who would use the product in a month and multiply by the actions you would actually look at. I would start with three: signup, workspace created, invite. Two thousand people is six thousand events. That is still inside Mixpanel Free, and inside our free 100k. The invoice only gets interesting past 1 million events. The widget above is the Mixpanel pricing calculator. Drag it to the volume you just guessed.

Is Mixpanel free?

Yes. Mixpanel Free is $0 up to 1 million events a month. Reports lock if you go over. There is no overage bill on that plan.

A two-person SaaS sometimes means a different offer. Mixpanel for Startups is a year on the Startup Plan. The company has to be under five years old, and raised no more than $8 million. It also cannot have been on a paid Mixpanel plan. That plan covers up to 1 billion events a year. You have to start sending data within 90 days of acceptance, or they pull it. It is not the Free plan, and you cannot buy it. The rules are on Mixpanel’s startup program. I rechecked that page on 30 September 2026.

What you actually pay at 250k, 1M, and 2M

At 250k, the volume most 2-person SaaS teams are guessing, Mixpanel cost is $0. EventDash Standard is $19. EventDash is not a cheaper Mixpanel at that volume. Pay EventDash for data-ed-goal HTML attributes, no cookies, and a price that will not become à-la-carte later. Mixpanel’s free million is a suite: identified users, cohorts, collaboration. Most two-person teams never open those boards.

Past 1 million events, Mixpanel Free is no longer a dashboard. Growth’s first million stays free; the rest is usage-based. EventDash Pro ($99, 2M) undercuts Mixpanel’s 1M-plan overage around ~1.35M events and at 2M ($99 vs ~$280). That is when the published ceiling shows up on the invoice too.

Above 2M, EventDash samples. Mixpanel or PostHog is the volume tool.

What Mixpanel’s free million actually buys

Mixpanel Free is large because Mixpanel is a people database with funnel reports on top. Cohorts, identified people, and shared boards are the product. If that is already how the team works, you already bought Mixpanel.

If the weekly question is “which signup step died?”, you do not need that suite. You need a button marked in HTML and one funnel. Switching to EventDash at 250k is not a money trade. It is a workflow trade.

The long comparison (setup, identity, privacy defaults) is EventDash vs Mixpanel. If the alternative you are weighing is a full product OS, read EventDash vs PostHog.

Why EventDash is the spend for a 2-person SaaS

The job is “which signup step died?” without a tracking-plan project or cookies. Mark buttons with HTML. The script is ~11 KB. Standard is $19/month for 1M events; Pro is $99 for 2M. That ceiling is the product.

What this page is not

This is not Mixpanel’s pricing page. It is not a Mixpanel coupon. The table skips Mixpanel add-ons, annual pre-commit discounts, and Enterprise MTU. The 40% and 20% figures above are from Mixpanel’s docs, not baked into the rows. The widget uses Mixpanel’s published 1M-plan à-la-carte rate so a 2-person SaaS can see mixpanel cost next to EventDash’s list prices.
