EventDash vs Plausible

Plausible is excellent cookieless web analytics. EventDash is product analytics — funnels, goals, custom events, errors, and Core Web Vitals — with a similarly light script and no cookies.

Both skip cookies. Plausible is the better EU-hosted traffic dashboard, often cheaper at the entry price. EventDash is the better product-analytics tool: funnels, HTML goals, errors, and Core Web Vitals. Decide on that job split — not a generic “who wins on price or hosting.”

Pick EventDash if

Choose EventDash if you need conversion funnels, custom events, error tracking, or HTML attributes so non-engineers can mark goals. Standard is $19/month for 100k events.

Pick Plausible if

Choose Plausible if you only need pageviews, want EU-owned hosting today, or want the smallest possible script at a $9 entry price. Plausible is the better privacy-pure pageview tool until EventDash offers EU residency and a consent-free mode.

Going deeper

When Plausible is enough

If your weekly question is “how many people visited and from where,” Plausible is the cleaner product. It is cookieless, EU-hosted, and deliberately small. Agencies that only report traffic should stay there.

When you outgrow pageviews

Product teams eventually ask which onboarding step died, whether a CTA converted, or which custom event fired after a release. That is EventDash’s lane: conversion funnels, HTML goals, errors, and Core Web Vitals on an ~11 KB cookieless script—not another traffic counter.

Honest overlap

Both tools reject the GA4 cookie-and-consent default. Neither is a full product OS. The fork is traffic clarity (Plausible) versus product-step clarity (EventDash). Pricing is close enough that the job—not a few dollars—should decide.

Questions

Is EventDash a Plausible alternative?

Yes if you want product analytics (funnels, goals, events) without Google Analytics. No if you only want a cheaper EU pageview counter — Plausible is better for that.

Which is more privacy-strict?

Plausible currently wins on EU hosting and a tracker that avoids device storage. EventDash uses no cookies and filters PII, but still uses localStorage for sessions. We do not claim a consent-free EU setup until a dedicated mode ships.

Can EventDash replace Plausible for traffic stats?

You get pageviews and referrers, but Plausible’s traffic UX is more mature. Many teams keep Plausible for marketing reporting and add EventDash when they need funnels—or switch fully if they prefer one tool.

Does EventDash support HTML goal tracking like a tag manager?

Yes. Mark conversions with data-ed-goal on buttons and links so non-engineers can ship goals without GTM. See the HTML attributes docs for the full attribute list.
