EventDash vs Mixpanel

Mixpanel is the classic product-analytics suite. EventDash covers the same job — events, funnels, goals — at SMB price and setup, without Mixpanel’s depth or sales motion.

Both answer product questions: events, funnels, who converted. Mixpanel is the mature suite for identified users, cohorts, and collaboration at scale. EventDash is the SMB version: HTML attributes, no cookies, $19–$99. Mixpanel’s free tier can out-volume us; their enterprise motion is the other end.

Pick EventDash if

Choose EventDash if you want Mixpanel-style questions (who converted, where they dropped) without a heavy implementation or enterprise packaging.

Pick Mixpanel if

Choose Mixpanel if you need advanced cohorting, collaboration at scale, or an established enterprise vendor. EventDash is not trying to be that.

Going deeper

Mixpanel wins on depth

Cohorts, retention boards, collaboration, and a mature implementation culture are why growth teams stay on Mixpanel. EventDash will not catch that suite. If those boards are already how the team works, stay.

EventDash wins on setup for small teams

A two-person SaaS or an agency does not want a tracking-plan project to mark a signup button. HTML attributes, an 11 KB cookieless script, and one funnel view answer “which step died?” without Mixpanel’s packaging.

Anonymous sessions versus identified users

Mixpanel is typically used with identified people. EventDash stores an anonymous session, filters PII, and does not set cookies. That is a product choice, not a claim that Mixpanel is non-compliant. Pick identity and cohorts, or a smaller anonymous funnel tool.

Questions

Is EventDash a Mixpanel alternative for startups?

For early teams that need funnels and events, yes. For mature data teams that live in Mixpanel boards, stay on Mixpanel.

Does EventDash have Mixpanel-style cohorts?

No. You get funnels, goals, events, errors, and Core Web Vitals. Retention cohorts and collaboration at Mixpanel’s depth are out of scope on purpose.

Can I migrate from Mixpanel to EventDash?

Yes for events, funnels, and a handful of goals. You will lose identified-user boards and cohort reports. Remap key conversions to data-ed-goal or SDK events, then rebuild one activation funnel first.

Is Mixpanel’s free tier larger?

Usually yes. Mixpanel’s free volume can exceed EventDash’s 10k events. EventDash is priced for teams that will pay $19–$99 for a simpler, cookieless product — not to win a free-quota contest.
